Biography

Ana C. Candia Solari Neumann, DDS, MPH, PhD, earned her dental degree in Brazil and later completed her Master of Public Health and PhD at the University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston. Her doctoral work was conducted at the U.T. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on genetic susceptibility to head and neck cancers. Dr. Neumann has extensive international experience as a clinical dentist, researcher, and academician across countries including Brazil, Kuwait, India, and Australia. As the inaugural holder of the Gene C. Stevenson Distinguished Professorship in Dental Education, she serves as a Professor and Director of Dental Public Health in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at UTHealth School of Dentistry in Houston. Dr. Neumann directs didactic courses for graduate and undergraduate students and is actively involved in clinical teaching and research. She collaborates with the UTHealth School of Public Health to lead the DDS/MPH dual degree program, aimed at enhancing formal public health training for undergraduate dental students. Her research interests encompass quality dental care delivery and promoting health interventions for dental patients, including HPV vaccination and tobacco cessation. She has authored sixty peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for various journals. Dr. Neumann is dedicated to mentoring junior investigators and faculty in dental public health.
