Biography

Ana Cappelluto is a Professor in the Department of Theatre at Concordia University, where she teaches Design for the Theatre. She is recognized as an award-winning scenographer with works produced in cities like Montreal, Toronto, New York, Switzerland, Italy, and Paris. Cappelluto's designs have been featured in various national and international festivals, including the Londrina International Festival in Brazil, Singapore Arts Festival, Atlantic New Dance Festival in Nova Scotia, Valencia International Arts Festival in Venezuela, the Spoleto Festival in Florida, Festival Teatro Mil in Santiago, Chile, and the Festival International des Théâtres Francophones in Limoges, France, as well as the Aoyama Round Theatre in Tokyo, Japan. Her research focuses on the development of new scenographic tools and she has been financially supported by prestigious organizations such as the Hexagram Research Institute, Industry Canada, and the Fonds de recherche sur la société et la culture. In 2000, she completed a two-year project titled Capturing Costume History, which involved documenting the contributions of major modern Quebec costume designers. The project resulted in the digitization of 800 theatrical costumes preserved at the Centre national de recherché et de diffusion du costume, which are now available online as part of Canada's Digital Collections.
