Biography

Ana Mijic is a Professor in the Water Systems Integration Group at Imperial College London's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She leads the development of novel systems tools focused on quantifying the interactions within the water cycle to promote sustainable development. Her work informs regulatory bodies and the water industry to support economic growth while ensuring sustainable water use and managing flood and water quality challenges for future uncertainties. Ana has been involved in various significant projects, including the NERC Innovation Fellowship funding associated with the UK Environment Agency and leading the EPSRC VENTURA project, which focuses on developing integrated water management models. She has been recognized for her contributions to research, receiving the Imperial President’s Award for Excellence in Research in 2019, and was awarded the Satish Dhawan Visiting Chair Professorship at IISc Bangalore, India, in 2022. Ana holds a first-class degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and a master's degree with distinction in Hydrology and Environmental Management from Imperial College London, where she also completed her PhD in Earth Science Engineering in 2013.
