Biography

Ana Maria Rivas-Grajales is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and serves as the Director of Neuropsychiatry and the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Clinic at Boston Medical Center. Specializing in neuropsychiatric complications associated with movement disorders, dementia, epilepsy, and functional neurological disorders, Dr. Rivas-Grajales provides specialized care to patients with major depressive disorder. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and subsequently pursued a clinical fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of action of neuromodulation therapies for treatment-resistant depression and the identification of clinical neuroimaging biomarkers for rapid-acting antidepressant treatments. Dr. Rivas-Grajales has received numerous awards for her excellence in research and clinical practice, including the Christopher D. Martin Resident Excellence Award and several fellowships from leading psychiatric organizations.
