Ana Luisa Trejos is a Professor and Tier-2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Western Ontario in 2012, her M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2000, and her B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 1997. Her research primarily focuses on the design, integration, and evaluation of wearable mechatronic devices aimed at providing medical care. In 2013, she established the Wearable Biomechatronics Laboratory, dedicated to designing wearable mechatronic devices for upper body rehabilitation and motion assistance. Her work includes the development of devices for tremor suppression and smart orthotic devices for elbow, wrist, hand, and neck rehabilitation. Dr. Trejos is also engaged in designing novel sensing and actuation components and creating models based on sensed biosignals, in addition to developing intelligent adaptive control systems for unobtrusive wearable devices.
