Ana Luisa Trejos is a professor at Western University in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, which she obtained in 2012. She also earned a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2000, and a Bachelor of Science from the Universidad de Costa Rica in Mechanical Engineering in 1997. Her research is focused on the design, integration, and evaluation of mechatronic devices intended for medical care, having established the Wearable Biomechatronics Laboratory in 2013. The lab is dedicated to designing wearable mechatronic devices for upper body rehabilitation and motion assistance, including smart orthotic devices for elbow, wrist, hand, and neck rehabilitation. Her research interests include developing novel sensing and actuation components, creating models based on sensed biosignals, and developing intelligent adaptive control systems to integrate unobtrusive wearable mechatronic devices into practical applications.
