Biography

Ana Vives-Rodriguez is a neurologist specializing in movement disorders and cognitive-behavioral neurology at Yale School of Medicine. She focuses on treating patients with tremors, Parkinson’s disease, tics, dystonia, Alzheimer's disease, and frontotemporal dementias. Dr. Vives-Rodriguez completed her medical residency training in Costa Rica, where she graduated with honors from the University of Costa Rica. Before her fellowship, she worked as an attending physician in neurology at Max Peralta Hospital in Cartago, Costa Rica. In 2018, she completed a two-year subspecialty fellowship in movement disorders at Yale New Haven Hospital, which deepened her understanding of neurodegenerative disorders. Following this, she pursued further training in cognitive-behavioral neurology at Boston University/VA Medical Center. Throughout her training, Dr. Vives-Rodriguez has conducted translational clinical neuroscience research focusing on neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer's disease. She investigates the structural and functional brain changes related to clinical manifestations and is particularly interested in the behavioral and cognitive aspects of movement disorders as well as early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.
