Biography

Anan Chen is a scientist at Concordia University, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of viral replication within organelles, integrating cell biology, virology, and biochemistry. He develops novel molecular probes and cell-based biochemical assays, implementing high-resolution imaging and structural approaches to study viral replication biology. Anan has completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School under the mentorship of Tim Mitchison and Adrian Salic, where he investigated the functions and structures of coronavirus double-membrane vesicles from 2021 to 2024. His PhD and MSc research was conducted at the University of Toronto, where he examined mechanistic biology related to cell division, actin cytoskeleton dynamics, and membrane remodeling. Anan earned his undergraduate degree from Peking University in 2012. His goal is to establish a thriving research program that pushes the boundaries of knowledge while empowering the next generation of scientists.
