Dr. Anas Elghafari

Biography

Anas Elghafari is a Research Developer working in the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences (DACS) at Maastricht University, focusing on projects related to icare4cvd. His research interests encompass Natural Language Processing (NLP), Ontology Engineering, machine learning, and the integration of large language models (LLMs) into research workflows, as well as UI/UX designs for data science applications. Prior to his tenure at Maastricht University, he was a research engineer at Sema4/GeneDx in Connecticut, where he worked on developing novel visualization approaches for complex patient data and deploying machine learning models to aid genetic research reviews. Before that, he served as an NLP specialist at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York, where he contributed to the harmonization of clinical trials and the integration of open datasets through APIs. Anas completed his Bachelor's degree in Computational Linguistics at the University of Tübingen and pursued graduate courses in Computational Logic at the Technische Universität Dresden, ultimately earning his Master's degree in Computer Science from New York University.
