Biography

Rani Elwy is a health psychologist, health services researcher, and implementation scientist. She is the Founding Director of the Brown Research Implementation Dissemination Guide Evidence Use (BRIDGE) Program. Her research focuses on improving patients’ access to and uptake of behavioral health care, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of implementing complementary and integrative health services for treating mental health disorders and pain. Additionally, she works on crisis risk communication among patients, families, providers, and health systems. Dr. Elwy has developed the healthcare system-wide Disclosure Support Program to enhance transparent communication in health care, utilizing evidence-based communication practices. She has also led initiatives in improvement science to create strategies for improving vaccine acceptance communication. In the academic year 2024-25, she will serve as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow in Washington, D.C., working with U.S. Senator Patty Murray's office. Dr. Elwy is recognized as a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and is a recipient of the VA Research Career Scientist Award.
