Biography

Anastasia Kakou is a Guest Lecturer in the Department of Statistics at LSE University since 2012. She teaches elementary statistical theory, quantitative methods, probability, distribution theory inference, and actuarial investigations. Additionally, she lectures on Generalized Linear Modelling and Survival Analysis, and offers a course titled Data Society: Researching Social Life. Anastasia serves as a GTA Mentor for first-time statistics teachers and has received multiple Class Teacher Awards for her contributions to education. Prior to her role at LSE, she worked for twelve years as a Market Risk Analyst at Credit Suisse within the Risk Measurement Management department, focusing on modeling implementation of Value-at-Risk and daily risk analysis for interest rate products. She completed her Ph.D. in Statistics with a dissertation on stochastic models of rainfall events from University College London under the supervision of Prof. Valerie Isham, supported by Greek State Scholarships Foundation. She also holds a Master’s in Operational Research from LSE and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
