Biography

Anastasia Papavasiliou received her PhD from Princeton University in 2002, focusing on stability questions in stochastic filtering and particle filters under the supervision of Professor Rene Carmona. During her final year as a PhD student, she had the opportunity to visit Professor Terry Lyons at the University of Oxford, where she was introduced to the theory of rough paths. Following her graduation, she worked as a postdoctoral research associate with Professor Yannis Kevrekidis, which sparked her interest in statistical inference problems related to multiscale systems. In 2005, she joined the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick as a lecturer. Her research interweaves various themes in statistics and its applications, particularly in relation to RNA modifications and their implications in the emerging field of immunology. Her sister, Nina Papavasiliou, is a Professor of Immunology at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, and they collaborate on statistical challenges in this area.
