Biography

Anastasia Volovich is a Professor of Physics at Brown University, specializing in theoretical physics, including quantum field theory, general relativity, and string theory, as well as related areas in mathematics. She received her M. Physics with highest honors from Moscow State University in 1999 and her Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Harvard University in 2002. Since joining Brown University as a Richard Edna Salomon Assistant Professor in 2006 following her post-doctoral research at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics in Santa Barbara, she has made significant contributions to high-energy theory. Volovich was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011, attaining full professorship in 2016. She has been recognized with various honors, such as the NSF CAREER Award and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from the White House. Her research is largely funded by the Department of Energy and the Simons Foundation, focusing on scattering amplitudes in quantum field theory and gravity, with the aim of uncovering fundamental properties and discovering hidden mathematical structures. Volovich also serves as an Editor-in-Chief for 'Letters in Mathematical Physics'.
