Biography

Anca Ferche is an assistant professor in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, a role she has held since 2021. She received her Ph.D. in Civil and Mineral Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2020, an M.S. in Structural Engineering in 2015 from the same institution, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2012. Her research interests focus on the development and application of simulation techniques aimed at enhancing the design and assessment of reinforced concrete structures. Major themes of her research include the analysis and performance assessment of concrete structures, structural implications of deterioration mechanisms, and the behavior of concrete structures using novel materials. Additionally, she models concrete structures subjected to extreme loading conditions. Beyond her teaching and research efforts, Anca actively engages with various technical organizations, including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib), and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI).
