Dr. Anders Børglum

Biography

Anders Børglum is a Professor of Medical Genetics at Aarhus University, where he chairs the Personalized Medicine Research at the Department of Biomedicine. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine and leads the Aarhus Genome-data Center. His research focuses on identifying genes associated with risk and resilience in psychiatric disorders and involves large-scale genomics studies analyzing vast multidimensional health-related biological omics data. Børglum is the Scientific Director and a principal applicant for the iPSYCH project, which established the world's largest database for psychiatric genetic research, covering individuals diagnosed with major psychiatric disorders in Denmark. He is actively involved in the international Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, where he chairs the Autism Group and participates in multiple disorder groups, contributing to significant genome-wide studies of various mental health issues. His work has resulted in influential papers that advance the understanding of the etiology and genetic underpinnings of mental disorders, highlighting the remarkable genetic overlap among these conditions.
