Biography

Using life cycle assessment (LCA) and environmental systems analysis tools, Anders Nordelöf's research investigates both new and existing technologies for energy conversion and energy storage, focusing on their impacts on the climate and environment. His main focus is to set up electrification in the transport system by exploring technical solutions for road vehicles, sea vessels, and aircraft. The aim is to provide advice and guidance on the development of technology that can reduce environmental impact and increase long-term sustainability. His research includes in-depth technical mapping at the component level while maintaining an overall systems perspective. Methodological development of LCA strategies and circular economy concepts are significant aspects of his work. As of fall 2024, Anders Nordelöf is working part-time at Chalmers while also holding a position as a Professor at the Swedish National Road Transport Research Institute (VTI). Previously, he served as a Senior Researcher at Chalmers, where he obtained his PhD and a docent-level appointment. He was also a Business Area Manager at Consat AB, an engineering firm. In 2022, he took on a smaller role as a guest researcher and LCA expert advisor at the Institute of Transport Economics in Oslo, Norway. On behalf of Chalmers, he serves as the theme leader in the research area of Environment & Society at the Swedish Electromobility Center, which is a national competence center for electromobility and hosted by Chalmers.
