Professor Dr. Anders Omstedt

Biography

Anders Omstedt is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in oceanography with a focus on lakes and coastal seas. His research interests encompass understanding the functioning of various water bodies, the interplay between water, energy, nutrient, and carbon cycles, and ecosystem changes in response to human impact. He is particularly interested in the coupling of water bodies with the atmosphere and the surrounding land. Professor Omstedt has actively participated in the Baltic Earth program and has contributed significantly to the field through detection studies, long-time series analysis, and scenario modeling. His recent research also explores the connection between science and the arts. He serves on the Baltic Earth Senior Advisory Board and has been an editor for the Oxford Research Encyclopedias on Climate Change. Throughout his career, he has published extensively in various respected journals, addressing complex issues such as biogeochemical cycles and the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems.
