Dr. Anders Wivel

Biography

Anders Wivel is a Professor at the University of Copenhagen in the Department of Political Science, specializing in International Relations. His research primarily focuses on foreign policy and strategic choices of small states, along with theories and practices related to international security. He examines the evolving dynamics of power politics and their implications for Denmark and other smaller nations in the sphere of international relations. His work includes both theoretical and empirical studies, leveraging various sources including interviews. Anders is passionate about teaching and supervising students, offering open office hours and encouraging communication via email. He chairs the European International Studies Association section on Small States and plays a leading role in initiatives like the EU-funded Horizon Twinning project CEE Security Hub. He is also an active member of the Global Research Network on Peaceful Change and participates in the Department's research group focused on International Politics.
