Biography

Andrea Aldrich is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Yale University and serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Her research interests are centered on political representation, gender, and comparative political institutions. Aldrich's work examines the relationship between internal political party dynamics and legislative representation, with a particular interest in investigating the influence of internal party organization on gender equality in elections. She has published her research in notable journals such as Journal of Politics, Party Politics, and Politics & Gender. She is also working on a forthcoming book with Cambridge Elements titled 'Glass Ceilings, Glass Cliffs, Quicksands: Gendered Party Leadership in Parliamentary Systems', which reviews the impact of gender quotas on political careers. Prior to her appointment at Yale, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Houston, involved with the Political Parties Database Project, and had visiting scholar placements at Texas A&M University and as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Zagreb in Croatia.
