Dr. Andrea Argüelles

Biography

Andrea Paola Argüelles is an Associate Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at The Pennsylvania State University. She has a Bachelor and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research focuses on dynamic systems, acoustics, vibrations, energy infrastructure, and storage devices. She is particularly interested in experimental, computational, and theoretical studies of stress wave propagation in heterogeneous media and its applications in materials characterization and biomedical ultrasound. As an established researcher, Dr. Argüelles has contributed to numerous journals and holds several research interests including nondestructive evaluation, effective medium modeling, and structural health monitoring. She actively participates in mentoring students and advancing research initiatives within her department.
