Biography

Andrea Balbo is a full professor of Latin Language and Literature at the University of Turin. He has held positions as an assistant professor and associate professor prior to his current role. He graduated in Latin Literature in 1994 and obtained his PhD in Greek Latin Philology and Literature in 1999. From 1999 to 2004, he taught Italian, Latin, Greek, and History Geography at private secondary schools, and qualified as a teacher in Italian state schools in 2004. Between 2004 and 2010, he was a postdoctoral student affiliated with Universities in Turin and Eastern Piedmont, where he lectured on Latin Language and Classical Philology. He has been involved in teacher education through courses related to Latin Language and Literature. His research interests focus on Roman rhetoric during the Imperial period, the relationship between classical rhetoric and jurisprudence, and the influences of classical authors in modern literature. He is actively involved in numerous research projects and has published extensively in various languages, including over 50 scientific articles and monographs. Balbo has served on editorial boards of several academic journals and is responsible for Erasmus exchanges at his university. He has also participated in international academic societies related to Latin studies and classical education.
