Biography

Andrea Barbieri is an associate professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in gastrointestinal, liver, endocrine, and head and neck diseases. Dr. Barbieri has a background in clinical care as a surgical pathologist and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. She earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University and her MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine, then completed her residency at Yale New Haven Hospital and a gastrointestinal pathology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Barbieri co-leads the Community Visibility working group on the Dean's Advisory Council for LGBTQI+ Affairs and serves as the Residency Program Director for the Anatomic Clinical Pathology residency training program. Her research interests include bacterial infections, biliary tract diseases, digestive system diseases, and various neoplasms. She is dedicated to improving the quality of diagnoses in pathology and works closely with patients to advocate for their care.
