Andrea Judith Boscoboinik Bourquard began her studies in anthropology at the University of Buenos Aires before joining the University of Fribourg in Switzerland as a student research collaborator. She completed her undergraduate thesis in 1995, focusing on social transformations in Bulgaria during the transition phase of a post-socialist society. Her doctoral project later addressed discourses and the social consequences of disaster situations in Honduras. In 2009, she started working on transformations in rural areas driven particularly by tourism development. This research led her to focus on new mobilities and the mobile populations living in mountain regions, especially in the Swiss Alps. Her latest project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation from 2017 to 2021, was entitled 'Becoming Local Mountain Regions: Diversification, Gentrification, Cohabitation. A Comparison of the Swiss Alps and Spanish Pyrenees,' in collaboration with various professors and researchers. Andrea has presented the results of her research at multiple conferences and universities and has published numerous articles and books on the topics she studied.
