Dr. Andrea Buchholz

Biography

Andrea Buchholz is a Professor in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph. She is a registered dietitian and the Director of the University of Guelph Body Composition Lab. Her research interests focus on the associations between lifestyle habits, particularly diet, body composition, and cardiometabolic risk in families with young children. She has a significant background in nutritional sciences, having completed her PhD at the University of Toronto and post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In addition to her research, Andrea is dedicated to teaching and mentoring students. She offers courses such as Nutritional Assessment and Fundamentals of Dietetic Practice-Based Research, preparing future professionals in the field of nutrition. Andrea actively collaborates with colleagues and researchers to explore various aspects of dietary effects on health. Her recent publications contribute to the understanding of nutritional influences on children's health, emphasizing the impact of dietary patterns and food quality on development. Andrea is also interested in continued research into the role of diet in family health.
