Dr. Andrea Buraschi

Biography

Professor Andrea Buraschi is a leading scholar in Financial Economics, with expertise spanning Asset Pricing, Derivatives, and Financial Econometrics. His research combines rigorous theory with applied insights, advancing the understanding of markets, institutions, and investment strategies. He earned his PhD in Financial Economics and Econometrics from the University of Chicago and has held academic positions at Columbia University and the London Business School. Buraschi was also a Visiting Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 2011 to 2013, where he taught MBA and Executive MBA programs. His research focuses on five interconnected areas: economic uncertainty and heterogeneity, term structure, monetary policy, derivative markets, hedge fund performance and shadow banking, general equilibrium, networks, asset pricing, and portfolio management investment strategies. He has published in top journals such as the Journal of Finance and the Review of Financial Studies and has received multiple international awards recognizing his contributions to the field, including the GARP Award for Best Paper in Financial Risk Management and the NYSE Euronext Award for Best Paper in Asset Pricing. Additionally, Buraschi is recognized as an outstanding educator, having received 'Teacher of the Year' awards for Innovation in Teaching at both London Business School and Imperial College London.
