Dr. Andrea Canepari

Biography

Andrea Canepari is a Professor of Practice at the Penn State School of International Affairs, where he teaches Public Diplomacy and Comparative Law at the Penn State Dickinson Law. He is also a Senior Affiliate of Partnership Innovation, Cross-Sector Collaboration, and Leadership (PICCLO) at the University of Pennsylvania. Canepari has served as an Italian Diplomat, including his role as Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and Consul General in Philadelphia. His research interests focus on public cultural diplomacy with an emphasis on diaspora and subnational food diplomacy. He has taught public diplomacy and international relations at Bocconi University in Milan. Canepari holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, a Bachelor's and Master's equivalent in Economics from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, and a Juris Doctor equivalent from Università degli Studi di Parma. He has received several international decorations and an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the American University of Rome. He has also edited books on the Italian legacy worldwide and has contributed academic articles and Op-Eds to various journals and newspapers internationally.
