Professor Dr. Andrea Collins

Biography

Andrea Collins is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Waterloo in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability. Her research interests lie at the intersection of gender, international relations, and global environmental politics, focusing particularly on global land issues, agriculture, and food politics. In her forthcoming book, 'Gender Global Grab: Feminist Global Governance Approach' published by McGill-Queen’s University Press in 2024, she explores how gender norms, biases, and expectations shape land politics across various levels of governance. Collins is currently investigating transnational counter-movements regarding LGBTQ+ women's rights and their influence on food, land, and agriculture policies within international decision-making forums. She is also committed to supervising students who share similar interests and expertise in these critical areas.
