Biography

Andrea Comiskey teaches in the Writing & Communication program at Carnegie Mellon University. She is currently working on a multimodal book project that explores the poetics of stop-motion animation, a project supported by a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. Her education includes a PhD in Communication Arts with a specialization in Film from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Additionally, she has held visiting appointments at Franklin & Marshall College and the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests focus on animation aesthetics, narratology, film media technologies, and the history of the U.S. film industry.
