Biography

Andrea C. Ferrari earned his PhD in electrical engineering from Cambridge University and his Laurea in nuclear engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He is a Professor of Nanotechnology and a Professorial Fellow at Pembroke College. He founded and directs the Cambridge Graphene Centre, which is an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology. Professor Ferrari chairs the management panel for the Science Technology Officer of the European Graphene Flagship. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the Materials Research Society, the Institute of Physics, and the Optical Society. He has received numerous awards, including the Royal Society Brian Mercer Award for Innovation, the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award, the Marie Curie Excellence Award, and the Philip Leverhulme Prize, as well as the EU-40 Materials Prize. He has received 4 European Research Council Grants.
