Andrea Fiore is a full professor in the Department of Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and a co-founder of the Eindhoven Hendrik Casimir Institute. His expertise spans nanophotonics, optical sensing, and quantum photonics. His research focuses on nanophotonic devices, particularly nanoscale light sources and detectors, nanolasers, and integrated optical sensors. Andrea's group is dedicated to integrated nano-opto-electro-mechanical systems (NOEMS), combining electronics, mechanics, and optics to achieve novel functionalities. His work aims to control light-matter interaction at the nanoscale to enhance nanolasers and quantum light sources. He has a background in optics, holding a PhD from the University of Orsay, and has worked at prestigious institutions such as Thales Research Technology, the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Italian National Research Council, and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Fiore has received numerous awards including 'Professeur boursier' in Switzerland and the 'Vici' grant in the Netherlands. He has served as principal investigator on national projects and has led six EU projects, including the EU-FP6 project 'SINPHONIA'. A prolific researcher, he has co-authored 180 journal articles and has given over 60 invited talks at international conferences. Andrea is also involved in commercializing nanophotonic technologies through co-founding spin-off companies such as nanoPHAB and MantiSpectra.
