Biography

Andrea Lodi is an Andrew H. Ann R. Tisch Professor at Cornell Tech and the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute. With a strong background in operations research and information engineering, he also serves as a full professor of operations research at the University of Bologna. He was previously a Herman Goldstine Fellow in IBM's Mathematical Sciences Department. At Polytechnique Montréal, he held the Canada Excellence Research Chair in 'Data Science for Real-time Decision Making'. His main research interests include mixed-integer programming, linear and nonlinear programming, and data science. Notable recognitions include the INFORMS Optimization Society's 2021 Farkas Prize and election as an INFORMS Fellow in 2023. As a principal investigator for several scientific projects, he collaborates with industrial partners from Italy, the European Union, Canada, and the United States. From 2006 to 2021, he served as a consultant for IBM's CPLEX research and development team, where he contributed to the development of CPLEX, a leading software for mixed-integer optimization. Andrea co-founded IVADO Labs, a Montreal-based company focused on AI projects primarily in the supply chain domain.
