Professor Andrea Valerio Macciò is a leading researcher in the field of astrophysics, focusing on the understanding of dark energy and dark matter, which together constitute 95 percent of the universe's total energy and matter budget. In September 2010, he started leading the "Galaxy Formation in the Dark Universe" group at the Max Planck Institute. He joined NYU Abu Dhabi in 2015 as an Associate Professor and currently oversees the exploration of galaxy formation and evolution in relation to the cosmic dark universe.
