Biography

Andrea Pobocik obtained her dental degree in 1994 and completed her Ph.D. in Oral Cancer in 2000. After transitioning into academia, she joined the faculty at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2003. In 2006, she relocated to London and served as a research fellow at King's College London School of Dentistry, focusing on dental stem cells until 2010, before returning to Brazil. In 2014, Pobocik moved to Michigan to pursue a residency in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She earned her clinical certification and master's degree in 2019. Now a clinical faculty member in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics, her main focus involves teaching dental students both clinical and pre-clinical skills. Alongside her dedication to teaching, she continues her research in Dental Stem Cells and Oral Cancer. Her varied training experiences and diverse responsibilities have fostered a passion for Dental Education, emphasizing the importance of organization, flexibility, teamwork, and effective interprofessional communication in achieving professional objectives.
