Biography

Andrea Reinecke is an Associate Professor and Research Psychologist at the Department of Psychiatry, specializing in the development of ultra-brief combination treatments for anxiety disorders and depression. Her research aims to identify the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying emotional disorders to create effective treatments through behavioral and functional brain imaging approaches. She has demonstrated that well-designed single session cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) can lead to significant improvements in anxiety symptoms, making it a valuable option in a field that often relies on long and expensive treatment courses. Notably, her findings suggest that optimal treatment doses may be lower than previously thought, and she is actively exploring the use of cognitive enhancers in conjunction with traditional therapy. Her research is supported by several funding bodies, including the Brain Science Fellowship and the Medical Research Council.
