Dr. Andrea Schalk

Biography

Andrea Schalk is a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, specializing in the mathematical foundations of computer science. She holds a PhD equivalent to Doktor rer. nat. from the Technical University of Darmstadt, where she received her degree in Mathematics. Her research primarily focuses on abstract models and logics in computation. Schalk has previously lectured at the University of Birmingham and worked as a research associate in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests involve modeling logics of programming languages and the mathematical structures that arise in these models. Schalk collaborates closely with members of the Mathematical Foundations Group within the School of Computer Science and has published work on categorical models and linear logic. Her contributions also explore the connections between mathematical entities, such as morphisms, and their implications in proofs and programming. She has been invited to speak at national and international events in various prominent locations.
