Biography

Andreas Baas is a wide-ranging aeolian geomorphologist with a current research focus on the development dynamics of dunes and dune fields on Earth and Mars, as well as the physics of aeolian sand transport, turbulence, and boundary layer flows. His research is supported by broad interests in novel instrumentation techniques, field measurement, data analysis, remote sensing, and computer simulation modeling. He holds a BSc and MSc from the University of Amsterdam and earned his PhD from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, with funding from the National Science Foundation. He has served as an adjunct professor at California State University San Bernardino and is an associate editor for Earth Surface Dynamics, contributing valuable insights on aeolian quantitative modeling. Baas has reviewed over 150 manuscripts for more than 50 international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of NERC's Peer-Review College, where he has evaluated numerous grant proposals.
