Biography

Prof. Andreas Bausch conducts research in cellular biophysics, focusing on the quantitative understanding of the mechanical properties of the cytoskeleton and the microscopic mechanisms of self-organization. His work aims to identify and physically characterize new biomimetic materials. He has a background in physics from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Université de Montréal, where he received his doctorate in 1999. Prof. Bausch was awarded the Emmy Noether scholarship, which allowed him to study at Harvard University under Prof. D. Weitz. In 2008, he accepted the Chair of Cellular Biophysics at TUM and has served as the founding director of the Center for Functional Protein Assemblies (CPA) since 2015.
