Biography

Andreas Fahr has an extensive academic background in communication and media studies, psychology, and economics. He completed his studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and worked as a research assistant at the Media Institute Ludwigshafen from 1995 to 2000. Subsequently, he served as a scientific assistant and senior advisor at the Institute of Communication and Media Science at LMU Munich from 2000 to 2012. He earned his doctorate in 2001 and obtained his habilitation in communication studies in 2010. Fahr has held guest professorships at the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research at the University of Zurich and served as a professor at the University of Munich. His teaching and research roles have included a Professorship in Communication Science with a specialization in social communication at the University of Erfurt, and since 2013, he has been a Full Professor of Empirical Communication Research at the University of Fribourg. His research interests encompass various facets of media use, including the psychological effects of media consumption and the dynamics of health communication, highlighting the challenges and opportunities presented by new digital media landscapes.
