Biography

Andreas Fuster is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Swiss Finance Institute, affiliated with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). His expertise lies in empirical finance, including household finance, real estate finance, and banking, as well as macroeconomics and behavioral economics. Andreas has previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Swiss National Bank. His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Finance, and Review of Financial Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, an M.Phil. from Oxford University, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. In recognition of his contributions, he received the paper award from the Journal of Finance and the Brattle Group Prize for corporate finance published in the Journal of Finance in 2022. Additionally, he has been awarded the Teacher Award for his contributions to the Financial Engineering Section at EPFL. Andreas has co-directed PhD students and has taught several courses focused on financial econometrics, financial intermediation, and macroeconomic policies, equipping students with essential skills in academic writing and practical applications in finance.
