Professor Dr. Andreas Giannopoulos

Biography

Andreas Giannopoulos is an experienced Attending Physician in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Zurich. He specializes in multimodal non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques such as PET, SPECT, CT, and echocardiography. He is particularly focused on clinical translational research areas involving innovative techniques in 3D modeling and 3D printing, and computer-based flow simulations of coronary arteries. Giannopoulos has a rich academic background, having completed his Doctorate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and further medical qualifications at the University of Zurich. His expertise also includes cardiac computed tomography, nuclear cardiology, and transthoracic echocardiography. Giannopoulos is actively involved in professional organizations including the European Society of Cardiology and the Radiological Society of North America, where he contributes as an Associate Editor for the journal '3D Printing Medicine'. His research interests focus on the pathophysiology of coronary artery disease and the development of advanced imaging techniques. He has held various medical positions across Greece, Germany, and the USA, culminating in his current role where he continues to advance the field of cardiac imaging.
