Biography

Andreas Grothey is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. He has a PhD in Optimization from the University of Edinburgh, completed in 2001, and an MSc in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing from Dundee, obtained in 1996. His research interests include Large Scale Optimization, Stochastic Programming, Interior Point Methods, and Decomposition Methods. He has worked extensively on stochastic (mixed-)integer problems and their applications in Power Systems, Finance, and Telecommunications. Grothey is also involved in several professional activities, including serving as a Technical Editor for Mathematical Programming Computation and a member of the Editorial Boards for the International Journal of Computer Mathematics and Acta Applicandae Mathematicae. He has supervised a number of PhD students, contributing to the development of the next generation of researchers in the field.
