Andreas Matouschek began serving in a leadership role at the College of Natural Sciences in 2020, previously holding the position of Senior Associate Dean for Research Facilities. He oversaw a team of 17 full-time staff members, supporting the research enterprise by managing extensive physical infrastructure necessary for research excellence and education, encompassing over 1 million net square feet across 25 buildings on four campuses, including McDonald Observatory in West Texas and the Marine Science Institute on the Gulf Coast. Prior to his current role, he was the Director of the Center for Biomedical Research Support and served as the Vice President for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Endeavors at the University of Texas at Austin. Matouschek has been a member of the Department of Molecular Biosciences since 2012, following a 15-year tenure at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he was a Program Leader in Cancer Cell Biology at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and directed the Interdepartmental Graduate Program in Biological Sciences. He was also the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at the Graduate School. His training includes an EMBO Fellowship in Biochemistry at the Biocenter of the University of Basel, Switzerland, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Diplom in Biology from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany.
