Professor Dr. Andreas Molisch

Biography

Andy Molisch received degree qualifications from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, where he earned his Dipl.Ing in 1990, PhD in 1994, and Habilitation in 1999. He possesses over a decade of industry experience, having worked as Chief Wireless Standards Architect at Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs. In 2009, he joined the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles as a Professor and established the Wireless Devices and Systems (WiDeS) research team. In 2017, he was appointed the Solomon Golomb - Andrew Erna Viterbi Chair. His research interests encompass wireless propagation channels, system design, and innovative methods in wireless communication, particularly focusing on 5G systems, wireless video distribution, and machine learning applications in communications. Molisch has authored several significant publications including 4 books, 20 book chapters, 250 journal papers, and 350 conference papers, and holds around 60 patents. He is a distinguished speaker and has served in various leadership roles in international conferences and standardization groups. Additionally, he has received numerous awards recognizing his contributions to the field of wireless communications, including being a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, AAAS, and IEEE.
