Biography

Andreas Oeste is an active performer and chamber musician from Conway, Arkansas. He began his musical studies on clarinet and cello before switching to oboe, as encouraged by his band director. Currently, Andreas serves as the Principal Oboe for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania, and has previously held the same position with the Battle Creek Symphony in Michigan. He has also performed as the English Horn Oboe for the Lexington Philharmonic in Kentucky. An accomplished soloist, he has received numerous accolades in prominent international competitions, including the Third Prize in the International Barbirolli Oboe Competition in 2017 and an Honorable Mention in the International Double Reed Society’s Hugo-Fox Gillet Competition. He also participated in the Muri International Oboe Competition in 2016. Andreas frequently collaborates with various ensembles, including the Ann Arbor Camerata and TACTUS, as well as contributing to the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Master of Music degrees in oboe performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan, and Bachelor of Music degrees in oboe performance and composition from the University of Central Arkansas.
