Andreas Wankerl co-teaches the joint undergraduate/graduate MIT course 3.086/3.207 (Innovation Commercialization in Materials Technology). Together with Professor Eugene Fitzgerald, he co-created an iterative innovation process model that captures the complex human processes in innovation and facilitates implementation. They co-authored the book 'Real Innovation' that evolved from research in the implementation of iterative innovation processes for industry projects. Wankerl has also taught the iterative innovation process in teaching engagements in Singapore and Mexico. He is the founder of a company focused on the innovation process and has worked with large corporations worldwide to establish continuity in innovation, talent development, and the implementation of corporate innovation governance. Over the years, Wankerl’s innovation work has led to the development of tools and methods employed in teaching, industry, and guidance for large-scale research projects through the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. Wankerl earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University in 1996 and completed his PhD in 2001. After working in the semiconductor industry, he returned to Cornell to earn his MBA in 2005.
