Biography

Andreas Weiler works in theoretical particle physics, focusing on the Standard Model with particular emphasis on unraveling the nature of dark matter and the dynamics of electro-weak symmetry breaking. His work aims to develop plausible theories that address the problems of the Standard Model and derive experimental signatures that can be tested at large particle colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Geneva. Weiler received his education in physics from the University of Stuttgart and Oregon State University, earning his PhD in 2007 from the Technical University of Munich. He has served as a post-doctoral researcher at Cornell University in New York and as a fellow at the European Center for Particle Physics (CERN) in Geneva. In 2011, he became a permanent researcher at the German Electron Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg and returned to CERN as a staff member in the theory group in 2013. In 2015, he joined the physics department at the Technical University of Munich.
