Biography

Andreea Deciu Ritivoi is the William S. Dietrich Professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University. She serves as co-editor for the narrative studies journal Storyworlds. Her research interests encompass political rhetoric, hermeneutics, narrative studies, and migration. Ritivoi’s notable works include 'Yesterday's Self: Nostalgia and the Construction of Personal Identity' (Rowman Littlefield, 2002), 'Paul Ricoeur: Tradition Innovation Rhetorical Theory' (SUNY Press, 2006), and 'Intimate Strangers: Hannah Arendt, Herbert Marcuse, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Edward Said American Political Discourse' (Columbia University Press, 2014). Controversy, Art, Society' (Palgrave MacMillan, 2012), among many published articles. Ritivoi completed her PhD at the University of Minnesota and is known for her acute analysis of rhetorical theory and narrative interpretation, especially in the context of migration and identity.
