Biography

Andrei earned BSc (2012) and MSc (2014) degrees with distinction in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. He completed internships at global industrial leaders, applying finite-element approaches to real-world engineering challenges in collaborations with General Motors R&D and Airbus R&D. Andrei pursued doctoral studies at École des Mines de Paris, completing his PhD thesis in 2019 with a focus on developing a coupled numerical framework to simulate fluid transport in contact interfaces of rough surfaces, addressing challenges relevant to lubrication and sealing in the nuclear industry. His work has received recognition through national PhD awards and he joined the University of Glasgow as a postdoctoral researcher in 2019, contributing to modeling fracture in irradiated graphite bricks in collaboration with EDF Energy. In 2021, he became a lecturer in Computational Mechanics, leading innovative research in applied mathematics and numerical modeling across various engineering disciplines. He is a core developer of MoFEM, an advanced open-source finite-element library, and is dedicated to developing computational tools that promote industrial collaboration. His current research focuses on numerical simulations, including triboelectric nanogenerators and data-driven computational mechanics, among others.
