Biography

Andrei Silov is an Assistant Professor in the Photonics Semiconductor Nanophysics group at the Department of Applied Physics, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on individual nanostructures, particularly in the realm of physics. His group investigates a wide range of nano objects, focusing on those with extreme confinement dimensions, including zero-dimensional quantum dots. Current research topics include spin manipulation of individual magnetic impurities and the physics of spin-correlated currents in quantum dots, as well as exploring the properties of colloidal perovskite nanocrystals. Silov has supervised ten PhD theses and has co-promoted work within his research group. He has a strong collaborative network with his peers, particularly Professor Paul Koenraad, aiming to leverage the properties of nanoscale objects for future telecommunications technologies. His drive for high-tech innovations stems from understanding how these small structures can exhibit surprising and non-intuitive behaviors.
