Dr. Andres Lepik

Biography

Andres Lepik is a prominent figure in the field of history and theory of architecture, with a significant focus on contemporary developments in architecture. He studied history of art at the University of Augsburg, graduating in 1987, and was awarded a fellowship for his doctoral studies on Architectural Model Italy 1353-1500 at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome. He has extensive experience in museum curation, having completed a professional trainee program at the Berlin State Museums in 1998 and subsequently serving as the personal assistant to the general director before becoming head of the 20th/21st-century architecture collection at the Art Library. In 2007, he transitioned to the Museum of Modern Art in New York as a curator in the Architecture and Design Department, where he organized influential exhibitions such as 'Small Scale, Big Change: New Architectures of Social Engagement'. In addition, he was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design in 2011/12. Since October 1, 2012, he has served as the Chair of History of Architecture and Curatorial Practices at the Technical University of Munich, where he also directs the Architecture Museum.
